The Honey Value Chain in Hadhramaut: Capturing the True Value of Yemen’s Most Celebrated Product
The third and final crop dialogue under the Developing Agricultural Revenues in Hadhramaut initiative brought together beekeepers, production centres, associations, the Agriculture Office, the Chamber of Commerce, testing laboratories, the honey export centre and traders in Seiyun in June 2026 — prepared by Core Insights Consulting and funded by Yemen Aid under the supervision of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in Hadhramaut.
Key Findings
Agreed Priorities
The session produced seventeen practical recommendations, most able to begin within six months — licensing beekeepers, activating and accrediting the honey export centre, registering a Hadrami honey trademark, regulating imports and combating adulteration, rehabilitating Sidr pastures, and building the traceability and certification infrastructure that credible export demands.
